Your Fall Car Care Checklist

The leaves are turning colors and we’re starting to feel a chill in the air. Fall has arrived. It’s a favorite time of the year for many Omaha locals, especially those who aren’t fond of the heat and humidity of summer.  It’s a great time of the year to hit the road and take a trip to view the fall colors or just get away for the weekend before the Winter months set in and driving becomes more hazardous. It’s also the perfect time of the year to drop by your favorite Omaha auto repair shop and get your vehicle prepped for winter.

Routine Maintenance Check

Preventative maintenance is cost effective and gives you peace of mind. There are few things more frustrating than breaking down on the side of a cold and snowy road because of an issue that could have been easily fixed in the Fall. Bring your vehicle in and we’ll change your oil, and check for any problems and wear and tear on belts and hoses. We’ll check your heating system and defrosters as well.

Battery Check

It’s difficult for you to know if there are any problems with your car battery unless you know what to look for. We’ll check for corrosion and make sure the battery is clean and all connections are secure. If your battery is 3 to 4 years old, you might consider replacing it before the cold weather comes.

When the temperatures start dropping your car needs antifreeze protection. Antifreeze can become diluted during the summer months. We’ll make sure your antifreeze levels are good, and the quality is suitable for the lower temperatures.

Have you changed your tires recently? The colder months demand a good set of tires, with good tread. If your tires are looking old and have significant wear, it’s probably a good time to replace them. And of course, make sure your tire pressure is at the right PSI.

Slippery and icy roads will put your brakes to the test.  We’ll take a look at your brake pads and braking system to ensure everything is in good shape and ready for winter.
