Stay Cool Behind the Wheel this Summer

We all know there are plenty of hot and humid days during the Omaha summer months. Staying cool when you’re behind the wheel keeps you comfortable and focused on what’s important – driving safely. A vehicle without a properly working AC can become an unbearable hot box in no time, and that can be dangerous.

Your vehicle’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning system (HVAC) keeps your interior cabin comfortable in any season by providing the right temperature and humidity level.  Jensen Service and Diagnostic has been the go-to place for Omaha locals looking for auto repair in Omaha for over 50 years now.

Tips for Maintaining Your Car’s AC System

  • Run the AC once a week for about 10 minutes – Chances are you’re already doing this during the summer. This is important because it helps maintain gas pressure to keep the compressor working properly.
  • Run defrost mode for about 5 to 10 minutes – Doing this is helps prevent mildew and cleans out excessive moisture, which can lead to unpleasant odors in your car.
  • Use your AC in the winter – Aside from keeping you cool, one of the AC’s primary functions is to remove humidity from the cabin. It works especially well when you need to remove fog from the windshield to improve visibility.
  • Re-charge Your AC system – Every two years refresh the cooling system with gas and lubricant from your local auto repair shop.

If you’re experiencing a weak AC or an AC that is no longer blowing cool air bring your vehicle into the shop and we can diagnose and repair it the same day in many cases. Many times the problem is challenging to find but simple to fix.  All of our mechanics are AES certified and have the experience to know what to look for when it comes to Omaha car care.
